The Predacons pursued the Maximals and interrupted a fight between Optimus Primal and Dinobot. In a stark contrast to his later career, he actually proved to be a serious threat and had the advantage over the inexperienced Cheetor, pinning the young Maximal down in a canyon. The first conflict between the stranded Predacons and their Maximal pursuers came when the Maximal Cheetor stumbled across Waspinator. In Waspinator's case, he now transformed into a large, green wasp. To protect themselves from the energon, the Predacons took organic beast modes. Waspinator, part of Megatron's rogue band of Predacons, landed on an unknown planet with dangerous levels of unstable energon. Remember when Waspinator used to be a threat? Because he doesn't, the poor guy. The Metals upgrade did little to stem Waspinator's annoying buzzing, and he still suffered many bouts of violence. He, however, found a renewed drive to eliminate the Maximals, accompanied by enhanced speed. When the quantum surge physically upgraded Waspinator into a Transmetal, his personality remained the same. Waspinator exchanged blasts with Cheetor before Megatron initiated the lab's self-destruct mechanism, at which point the Predacons retreated. When the Maximals located the Predacons' genetics lab, Waspinator was present along with Megatron and Tarantulas to fend them off. Waspinator may be dumb, but he's not stupid. (Those prone to witticisms might say he has a "liszzzzp.") His speech quirks don't help: he tends to refer to himself in the third person and to most other people by nicknames like "cat-bot" and "two-head." He's also a bit too fond of the letter "Z". Megatron has classified the harebrained Predacon as expendable, much to Waspinator's dismay he doesn't get much more respect from anyone else, either. Waspinator's not the brightest 'bot in the Beast Wars. Disturbingly, Rattrap has taken to collecting his severed components. He has been blasted, burned, shot down, torn up, crushed, slashed, smashed, bashed, and otherwise reduced to his component parts times beyond counting. If something blows up, he's usually at the epicenter of the explosion. If something goes wrong, it happens to him.
Waspinator (aka Wasp, Thrustinator, or Waspscream) is the universe's whipping boy.
